Interactions Between Earth Science Conditions & California Public Policies

When: November 20, 2000, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Where: Three teleconference locations--
*	CSU Sacramento
*	UC Santa Barbara
*	USGS, Menlo Park

Purpose:
*	To consider the implications of geology on the environment and lives
of Californians.
*	To explore new opportunities to use earth science insights in policy
and decision making.

Panel Topics:
*	Earthquake Risk in California and Policy Options to Reduce It
*	Management Challenge--California's Water Demands and Limits of the
Resource
*	Communication of Earth Science Information for Use in Policies and
Decisions

Each panel will consist of 4 presentations, a short summation, and an open
discussion. The conference will be videotaped for later broadcast on the
California Channel (CalSpan) and for subsequent use as an educational tool.
