re/ AISC - Consideration of Listservice Comments

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Unlike some of the responders to this thread, I do a lot of structural
steel design. Anybody who has actually visited the AISC web site in the
last year knows that there is a large amount of technical content available
FOR FREE as downloadable PDF files, including the AISC Seismic Provisions,
the AISC Code of Standard Practice, a large number of "Steel Tips"
articles, Modern Steel Construction articles, etc.

It is completely erroneous to state that the AISC web site is nothing more
than a price list.

It is completely unfactual to state that AISC is focusing on how best to
market what they have developed.

I have always regarded AISC as very supportive of the design engineering
profession with both "for free" and "for sale" design aids. I have every
reason to believe that they will continue to be supportive.
