RE: Snow Load Factors - ASCE vs ACI

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Title: Snow drift loads on adjacent sloped roofs
ACI, section 8.2 says "Service loads shall be in accordance with the general building code ..."  The Commentary says "If the service loads specified by the general building cod (of which ACI 318 forms a part) differ, the general building code governs."  The next paragraph talks about "the loads shall be increased to account for all likely accumulations of water."  I don't know if they just didn't want to mention the word snow or what but they intend for it to be in the live load.

<snip>
ACI-318, Chpt 9 has no mention whatsoever of the ultimate strength factor for snow loads. It has 1.4 D + 1.7 L

For Pennsylvania, what load combinations should I use...???
