Staad III has a major error in the concrete design module besides many
others. In 1998 I was designing 60 foot girders (3'-0'') deep as part of a
major cooling basin support. Out of plane wind loads produced 1 3'-0"
eccentricty and large Torsional Loadings. With USD - 15 different load
combinations were present and I set all the design parameters to design the
stirrups for shear and torsion. It just completely quit after the 1st Load
Combination and accordingly I had spent time/budget to design the stirrups
by hand and do a lot of "Bookkeeping".
STAAD could of been a great program if care and dedication were placed into
it. Too bad it isn't or hasn't.
