Not to slander you or your welder, but it could be he's skittish about
welding willy-nilly. You can get into deep trouble real fast if you don't
know exactly what you're welding or what loading it's supposed to take.
If you know these things, you can explain what you're doing. If you don't
know them, your inspector is doing you a big favor by calling your
attention to the situation..
