There are at least two choices dependine on the accuracy you require.
1.) You can model it as a truss element, tension only, or
2.) You can model it as a catenary by calculating an equivalent spring
constant and substituting this spring constant into your program. If
your finite element program is linear you may have to itterate manually
to match the spring constant(s) with the deformations calculated.
STAAD III used to analyse cables using a parabola, however, the version
I was using at the time wasn't too reliable; it sometimes calculated
COMPRESSIVE loading in the cable.
