No. There is an ICBO report by the Gypsum Association for Gyp shear walls
with screws.

Subject: Wood Screws

A while back someone posted that #8 sheetrock screws were *NOT* acceptable
as structural screws. The reasons given made sense.

Would this apply to gypsum shear walls?

Does anyone know of a reference for using screws in sheathing applications?
