greetings list members,

a question regarding metal deck roofs. We are looking at upgrading a
building in zone 4, tilt-up with metal deck roof. Bld. will be re-roofed, we
propose to add top seam welds (decrease existing spacing) to increase
diaphragm capacity. Building is occupied by paper storage and owner is
concerned about spark "showers" when welding. Question is, is it possible to
add screws in lieu of welds to increase capacity. It is old profile deck so
I think there is not enough lap for screws but not sure. Any suggestions?
TIA,
