Re: Break Away Connectors

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Is the idea that the breakaway connectors melt during the fire? What if
the fire is not located near the connectors? Say a roof area, away from
the firewall, collapses under a fire and generates enough horizontal
force to pull the fire wall over? Should then the connectors be also
designed to break under that potential horizontal force? Does the
horizontal pull then get transferred thru the fire wall to the
connectors on the other side? What if the connectors on the other side
of the wall break first? Are the connectors normally located on each
side of the wall?

Can anyone explain exactly how these breakaway connectors are suppose to
work?
