A glulam arch lateral-force-resisting system is not defined in our
codes.  That means that the designer bears the burden of performing
and defending their own rational design approach.  Where this
situation occurs, the technical validity is usually determined based
on principles of mechanics, testing, and published research.  Some
guidance may be found in Section 8.8 (Other Wood Elements and
Components) of FEMA 356.

Since the subject of glulam arches has come up, I'll ask a question I
tried here once before.  What is the seismic Response Modification
Coefficient (R) that should be used for glulam arches which are the
lateral force-resisting system for a building?
