No, I don't know what the current academic rate is.  But you should know
that you will be buying an "academic version", and I think that means "not
upgradeable."

For me, it was a worthwhile expenditure, in that I didn't invest in the more
expensive model.  I discovered that I'm not smart enough to use the program,
nor do I have the time to get smart enough.  So, I saved 75% of the retail
price.

I am smart enough to use Excel, so I do so.
