assume the following:
lx,ly        lower known x and y values
mx, my   middle unknown x and y values
ux,uy     upper known x and y values     
 
Interpolation is finding the unknown mx at my (or unknown my given mx) given lx,ux,ly, and uy
 
the equation is:
(mx-lx)/(ux-lx)=(my-ly)/(uy-ly)
