Re: ACI 318 -Construction Joint - Post-tensioned slabs

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next] Please note that if the slab is post-tensioned, construction joints will
typically NOT be in the middle third of the slab.  If there will be
intermediate anchors at the joint, the joint should be located so that the
anchors are at approximately mid-depth of the slab.  This varies according to
the tendon profile and the slab depth but is typically at span/4 or span/5.

In reviewing the location of the construction joints,  the structural
engineer must decide whether what they call out for typical shear transfer
details is adequate or if something additional is necessary at joints which
are close to a column line.
