Quotation from Breyer's book, Design of Wood Structures, 3rd Edition, Page 456, paragraph 3:

"Finally, it should be noted that the other "approved: types of plywood edge support (such as T&G edges or panel clips-Fig. 8.14) are substitutes for lumber block for sheathing loads only. They do not qualify as substitutes for blocking for diaphragm design (except 1 1/8-in.-thick 2-4-1 plywood with properly stapled T&G edges) "
