Matthew,

the calculations that I made for the flagpole were using the norms DIN that
says that the load is W=C*q being C the aerodynamic coefficient and q the
dynamic pressure  
also q = 0.06371*v^2 and for a speed of 80 kph the W=25.16 kg/m^2 that
pressure applied it to the whole surface of the flag and also apply that
same pressure to the flagpole considering the wide of the flagpole . You
believe or for another well-known method for you will give bigger efforts.  
Considering the vortex shedding one will have bigger efforts.

I don't have a problem with the "structural" side of the calcs...but how
do you calculate the windload on a banner/flag at xxx mph wind?  Thanks.
