Re: Elevator Shop Drawings

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Todd,
As a practicing engineer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts I have
routinely stamped elevator shop drawings verifying that the structure can
support the loads (vertical and horizontal) imposed by the elevator on the
structure. In reviewing the shop drawings, the elevator manufacturer will
note the design rail loads as well as the location of the rails (elevation).
Depending on the shaft wall construction (masonry, metal studs, etc.) I
review my structure and the impact of these loads on it. The verification I
am stamping is pretty explicit in that I am solely responsible for the
structure and in no way am certifying any of the elevator components.
