When evaluating equivalent steel materials, yield strength and tensile
strength are not the only criteria.  When you specify an ASTM
specification, you also are specifying limits to chemical content, which
goes to carbon equivalent and weldability.  You are also specifying wall
thickness tolerances (but what could be worse than ASTM's plus or minus 10%
wall thickness tolerance).
