Min. Reinforcement in Pedestals

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Dear Mr. Karimzadegan:

Form the description of your problem it appears that you have a circular mat
foundation ( 6 to 7m dia. X 1.3m deep). You should treat this as a concrete
mat on elastic soil, and reinforce it with main horizontal bars at top and
bottom, with nominal vertical ties to account for shrinkage and temperature
requirements. However, minimum reinforcement for a pedestal should not be
less than 0.5%.

Best Regards,
Medi Givechian, PE.
