Determining Domestic Steel

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next] We have a project which calls for all steel to be produced in the US. The mill certifications state, "Made in USA" but the maple leafs stamped on the beams and columns lead me to believe differently. The wide flange and HSS shapes are common sizes readily available from domestic producers. My questions are as follows.

1) Is all steel made in the USA labeled "Made In The USA"? Some of these members have no label.

2) Is there any way to determine the origin of production if there is no label on the steel (chemical analysis, etc)?

Thank you.
