Re: List Process Problem(s)

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
When I changed service a couple of weeks or so ago, I tried to "unsubscribe" from my original address.  Yes, I did go through the instructions at the end of the mails, and I went to the website, and I had direct contact with Shafat!  No luck!  I canceled my original service, so I lost all those emails anyway.  Who knows? For all I know, the list may still be trying to send to that address.

Then, I tried to "subscribe"!  I even had a friend ask the list to help me get back on board.  Same problem, same procedure, but in the end, after to-and-fro-ing with him, Shafat had to "subscribe" me manually.  It took about a week, and I hope I didn't bug Shafat too much.  At this point, I'd say the same problem probably lingers.  It would have to be done manually.  Someone suggested that the list responds to keywords.  And I attest to the fact that every time I tried to subscribe or unsubscribe, I would get the usual "help" message and a list processing result mail, always saying it couldn't process an invalid command etc.

So I sympathize with those people trying to "unsubscribe", and I wonder if some people are not getting on for the same reason.

Maybe if Shafat is monitoring this thread, he can comment better than I.

Subject: what is it?

How is it that people manage to subscribe to this forum, yet are so inept that they can not unsubscribe from it?  I sure hope these aren't aspiring engineers. Maybe it would cut down on the unsuspecting if there was a warning during sign-up that they will receive 40 e-mails per day? (Or is there already one?)  I am getting tired of reading someone whining about being unsubscribed... take two minutes and figure it out yourself.
