Title: RE: Lumber Standard

I searched for this a couple of years back.  It is a Voluntary Product
standard.  I have on my notes to go to www.doc.gov and search for vps.
I tried it again and found the site that you need, here is the source -
they have a free acrobat reader copy:

Subject: Lumber Standard

Sharon,

What kind of experience with the document are you looking for?

The current document is PS 20-99 and the abstract, abstracted, says:

"This Standard pertains to softwood lumber.  It establishes standard sizes
and requirements for development and coordination of the lumber grades of the
various species, the assignment of design values when called for, and the
preparation of grading rules applicable to each species. ...

It establishes principal trade classifications and lumber sizes for yard,
structural, factory and shop use and provides for the classification,
measurement, grade marking of rough and dressed sizes of lumber items. ..."
