RE: Promoting Structural Engineering in High Schools

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
The Advocacy committee of NCSEA has a subcommittee devoted to Students
and Educators which is exploring this issue also. You might contact Dave
Adams at davea(--nospam--at)laneengineers.com for further information. I am a member
of this committee and we are presenting reviewing several Powerpoint
presentations on structural engineering as a career.

Also, the Utah Seismic Safety Commission has endorsed and is sponsoring
a Student Research grant program aimed at interesting high school
students in studying seismic related issues. This program is in its
infancy, but I can tell you there has been tremendous interest from
local schools here.

I'd be happy to tell you more about our efforts off-list if necessary.

Subject: Promoting Structural Engineering in High Schools

Hi:

As a member of the SEAOSC Public Relations Committee, we are trying to
promote Structural Engineering at the high school level. I am sure
there
are many organizations around the globe which are trying to do the same.

I would like to hear from people who have been working on this issue. I
am
sure, quite a few of you would have volunteered for the career day at
school. I am looking for hints and suggestions to purse this further.

Thank you.

- Aswin
