RE: Non-Structural Seismic Restraint

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Specific bracing requirements are in 1997 UBC Vol 3 Uniform Building Code Standard 25-2 Metal Suspension Systems for Acoustical Tile and For Lay-In Panel Ceilings.  The IBC references CISCA [Ceilings and Interior Systems Construction Association]  Guidelines for Seismic Restraint for Direct Hung Suspended Ceiling Assemblies.  The UBC standard is words, words, words.  The CISCA booklet has diagrams.

ASTM E580 titled "Standard Practice for Application of Ceiling Suspension Systems for Acoustical Tile and Lay-in Panels in Areas Requiring Seismic Restraint" may also be of interest to you.

Subject: Non-Structural Seismic Restraint

I am looking for the ICBO report on the restraint of non-structural systems like T-Bar ceilings etc.  The report makes comment/instruction on the use of compression struts at all ties points of the restraint system.

Does anyone know the report number?

Thanks
