[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]

There is a new code compliance tool offered by the U.S. Department of
Energy's Building Energy Codes Program. The MECcheck Prescriptive Package
Field Guides are a set of 19 tri-fold brochures (one for each climate zone)
that will provide the construction community with a quick reference guide
that covers the prescriptive envelope requirements of MECcheck and the key
things that the end user needs to know about these requirements to aid in
compliance with 1998/2000 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).
The guides can be distributed by local jurisdictions to builders/designers
who are seeking a simplified compliance approach or do not have access to a
computer. The guides are expected to increase acceptance and compliance
with residential energy codes and are in direct response to industry
requests for simplified code support tools.

The field guides can be viewed and downloaded at Users can select
their state and county to download the appropriate single guide for their

The guides are also grouped by state (all climate zones within a selected
state) or as a
complete package <
(all 19 zones).

The guides (PDF format) are formatted as a tri-fold brochure on 8 ½" x 11"
paper. The file should be duplexed when printed, then folded with the zone
number and map on the front cover
