RE: Steel bridge girder callout

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Bob, are you sure that the depth isn't d=27.88" ?

I think the area is A=26.86 in^2

This is from the publication "Iron and Steel Beams From 1873 to 1952" by
AISC

Maybe the publications do not match?

According to AISC Steel Design Guide 15 (new), a B28 weighing 91 plf has a
depth of 26.86", web thick 0.45". flange width 9.98", avg flange thickness
.738", Sx 246.9, Ix 3441.1, rx 11.32. Need more data?

Subject: Steel bridge girder callout

Is anyone familiar with the structural steel callout: 28" B.I. 91lb ? I'm
doing some rehab work on a 50's era bridge. The girders are rolled I
shapes, but I can't find a referance for the girder properties. Any
backround on the callout and a place to start looking for the properties
would be appreciated.

Thanks
