Re: Limit States

Chris,

Audrey Massa of FEMA is currently organizing and cataloging all of the SEAoNY WTC-related photos and videos for the SEAoNY library.  I know that those of us who served on the steel salvage team intend to donate all of our photos, videos (and any rights thereto) to SEAoNY for educational purposes.  We have hundreds upon hundreds of photos, some of which you may find useful for your guide.  Don't forget the videos.  IMO, some of the most interesting/informative video was shot by Gary Steficek of GMS showing the failure mechanisms in WTC 4 and 5.

If I may any help in coordinating things, please let me know.

Subject: Limit States

AISC is putting together a teaching guide to aid the instructors of structural steel design classes.  As part of this guide we would like to include pictures of steel members which have failed due to various limit states.  We have pictures of most of them, but there are still a few that we are missing.

I am looking for pictures that show examples of the following limit states:

Web Cripling
Web Local Buckling
Web Local Yielding
Tension Yielding.
Beam Compression Buckling

If you can help to provide any of these for use in this publication, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
