The best work on this is contained in the 2000 NEHRP Commentary Section
7.5.1.  It contains information on yielding and non-yielding walls.  This
section was written by Maury Power and Chet Soydemir.  The NEHRP Commentary
is on line at: http://www.bssconline.org/
