RE: Opinion on Terminology

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Gail,

From ACI 116 Cement and Concrete Terminology:

soffit—the underside of a part or member of a structure, such as a beam, stairway, or arch.

I still think of the term only applicable to a overhead situation, so a SOG would not have a soffit!

Subject: Opinion on Terminology

Can a slab on grade (ground?) have a soffit or is a soffit strictly the underside of an elevated slab?
