Hmmm.  Are we sure Whitmore was a person.  I thought perhaps Roebling (in
his youth) dated a girl from the Whitmore Section of town.  And just maybe
the 'Whitmore Section' was named for a design that was reminiscent of her .
. . er ah . . . frame.
