Sounds like you don't like unions.  Unions are not as powerful as you allege they are, otherwise companies like Tyler Pipe wouldn't exist (if what the NYTimes and Frontline alleges is true).

According to the Times, the union local there is Local 1157 of the United Steelworkers of America.

FWIW, I'm not a union member, I don't always agree with them, but I understand why they are needed.
