I think you mentioned about CFT (Concrete Filled Tubes)..highly popular esp.
in Japan for highrise buildings..Ive seen many research reports performed in
US also..one of them was performed in Lehigh Un.ATLSS Center..You can make a
search in ACI Structural Journal and ASCE Structural Journals..
