Re: Overhead anchors

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
According to their ICBO-ES approvals, epoxy anchors typically begin strength loss at around 105 deg F, and have about 35%of the approved strength at 180 deg.  Epcon Acrylic A& begins strength loss at about 135 deg F and has about 40% of its approved strength at 180 deg.  Simpson charts show 60% of the approved strength at 180 deg.  None seem very good for overhead installations where fire is a consideration.

Most ICBO-ES approvals for chemical anchors do not allow them to be used to resist pullout forces from walls and ceilings without special consideration for elevated temperatures.
