Yes, gunite is more-or-less concrete (o.k., the coarse aggregate is relatively small). Concrete and sulfur do not get along, much less concrete and sulphuric acid. You need to retain a materials specialist to work with you on this project. I suspect you will end up doing something much more exotic than gunite against dirt. Good luck, you will need it.

Our office is involved in a project with a new pool complex to be built on a site with high sulphuric acid content in the soil.  Is anyone aware of any adverse reactions of gunite to sulphuric acid?
