Brian,

        Sulphuric acids does react adversely with concrete whether that concrete is shot or cast.  I would suggest that you need a concrete materials specialist as well as a good geotechnical consultant.

        You might want to consider a cast in place pool rather than gunite for a couple of reasons: if buoyancy could be a problem you can extend the base to pick up extra weight from the surrounding soil; and if acid is a problem you can install a more effective membrane or spray sealant to deter the effect.
