Structural Engineers on TV

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Hello all:

This Friday, October 3 at 10pm on the Discovery channel (Pacific Time -
check local listings) one of our engineers will be on prime time TV.

Last May, Kate Stillwell participated in a TV reality / game show called
ND-structible. The show is similar to Monster Garage or Junkyard Wars.
Two teams compete to build a structure in a limited time with limited
materials, and then try
to destroy the other team's structure. Kate was the captain of one team
and is an engineer with us at Degenkolb Engineers. Another SE was also the
captain of the opposing team. Reportedly, a great time was had by all and
the outcome and details have been protected in sworn confidentiality. It
should be quite entertaining and will also be interesting to see how the
producers strategically edit and portray the groups, particularly the SE's.

Below is the description from the TV listing:

A timed, team competition challenges backyard engineers to craft a
bridge that is then put to real stress tests with thousands of pounds of
destructive force.
