Reading recent posts on the SICK PROFESSION, let me offer some additional reading.
Structural engineers have been relatively fortunate with the downturn in the economy.
What with infrastructure rebuilds, new construction, building upgrades (terrorist- security retrofits) we've generally not been impacted by massive layoffs like in the other professions (Electrical Engineers, IT, manufacturing).
But all it still not well. I think several of you on this list want to deny what is happening here in the US.
With that said I direct to these commentaries.
You may think all is well, but their are others raising serious concerns.
You may deny the the H-1B, L-1 visas program has not an impact to structural engineers
