Re: Importing .dxf files in SAP2000

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]

SAP is notoriously fickle when it comes to importing from dxf, so you have
my sympathy.

You can not import polylines, complex surfaces, or any "composite" element
types into SAP. If you try, it will simply ignore them, and won't give you
an error message. You need to stick with simple lines and quadrilateral
planar surfaces.

Another thing which i have trouble with is if the dxf is created in
Microstation, it won't work, but if you open the file in Autocad then save
again, it will work. If you have the energy, do us all a favor and get the
SAP people to understand this and fix it.

Greetings:

I am having a lot of trouble importing .dxf files in
sap2000 and the help provided by CSI in the
documentations is particularly helpful.

I have created a model of a torus in CAD and tried
naming the layers as 3dface, polylines etc. as
mentioned in the help, but i still can't import it.

Can anyone help me in this regard.

thanks much
Anantha
