AWS has guidelines.  It is based on the diameter of stud you chose.  You may also find guidelines in the composite chapter of the LRFD manual.  I think that's where I saw them first.  Sorry, I don't remember the ratio off the top of my head.

Subject: Support framing for composite metal deck diaphragms

Any feedback / experience regarding the minimum base metal thickness of the support system flanges for a welded composite metal deck application?  What is the practical minimum limit?
