FW: banging bolts

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Charlie,

I have seen the banging bolt issue on a steel frame office building in
Valdez, AK. The EOR specified snug-tight bolts. The occupants were really
worried when the bolts started banging as office loads were applied. The two
articles were a great help toward understanding the issue.

Regards,

Bill

The rarity of occurrence of a banging bolt is best explained in these
articles from the November 1999 issue of AISC's Modern Steel
Construction
