I installed Windows XP SP2 on my laptop a week and a half ago, and I had problems.  It took about 5 hours to install, and the only problem during the install was that it did not recognize NAV.  Later that day when I restarted my laptop, it would not boot back up to the desktop.  I cantacted MS support using my desktop.  They thought the problem was that my Compaq laptop had Windows tailored for its system (not generic).  They gave me a procedure to reinstall SP1.  That worked OK, but it did not recognize some programs.  I had to reinstall MS Office 2000, but it did not recognize that NAV was installed.  There were some other issues, so I did a complete reinstall of the Compaq disks.  MS Supports recommendation was to contact Compaq/HP to see if they had a patch to solve.  I have not followed through with this yet because of the time involved to install.  I tried to install on my desktop which is a generic system, but the system was over-loaded with requests when I tried to install SP2 and it recommended to try again later.
