Unless your calculations prove otherwise why not just call out ASTM A36?

Referencing P. 2-23 of the 3rd ed. Manual of Steel Construction you can specify:
 
ASTM A572 GR 50 (available grades are 42, 50, 55, 60 or 65
ASTM A529 GR 50 (available grades are 50 or 55)
 
The first is probably more typical.
