RE: ASD vs LRFD: Say It Ain't So

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]

The Manual draft itself, I don’t believe, has been put on the AISC website. However, from time to time, the Spec has been posted on the website for public review and comment. That period is not currently active, and therefore there is not direct link to a draft of the new Spec. However, one can locate the August edition of the draft by searching for “360” in the search engine. Note that the period for public review and comment has passed on this version, and the AISC Spec Committee meets in November to finalize the Spec.

If you have not seen my name here before, it is because I am a newcomer to this list. So far it looks like a interesting group of people. Anyway, I was wondering if Bob G. would post a link to the download he mentioned. as I can not find it on the site.

Thank You,

Daryl H.

You can download a draft of the new AISC Manual from their website.  Yes, it does have ASD and LRFD side by side.

A young friend of mine who is a grad student at a local University mentioned that one of his professors has stated that "AISC is going back to ASD and away from LRFD."

I assume that he referred to the upcoming AISC Manual of Steel Construction which will, reportedly, have ASD side-by-side with LRFD in much the same way that the AISI CFS manual does.

Or is there something in the works that I don't know about? Enquiring minds want to know.
