RE: professional Practice with a segue...

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]

I have no doubt that this was inspired by some "evil doer" contractor who tried to claim an extra to cover the cost of pumping concrete.  Pouring implies method of construction.  Placement describes the in-place finished product.

Concrete is placed not poured. I don't really understand this unless placed
refers to where the concrete is directed as it comes off the truck. Maybe
one of you can educated me on this phrase.

I have an interesting one....
My boss has started a list of, say, drafting faux pas or mangled terms he
has heard/seen over his years of experience.

i.e.

Riff Raff = Rip Rap
-  Sonic Tubes = Sono Tubes
-  #4 every which way = #4 EW
-  ...and a note seen on some old Architectural drawings in VA.  "All work
shall be done in accordance with the wishes of the Architect and his
 friends".

Any others?

Peggy
