The capacity is 192 plf. The joist is 12" deep but precedes the use of
the
designation 12J4. The Steel Joist Institute publishes a very useful
guide
about old steel joist designations; when they were in use and their
capacities.

Subject: Bar joist designation

A structural drawing dated 1958 calls for" SJ124" for bar joist span
20'. Is any body knows what 124 stand for? Is it for 12J4 bar joist.
Thanks
