That font is very fun and barely legible.  John Riley

Subject: Southern Pine / Pressure Treated

Listers,

I am working on a project in Texas using Southern Pine.  The specifications note that all lumber except pressure-treated shall contain not more than 19% moisture content.  My questions are:

  • Does Southern Pine require pressure treatment for uses like ledgers bolted to concrete or masonry, sole plates, etc.?
  • If yes, why do you suppose it would be exempt from the stated 19% moisture content limit?
