RE: Crack monitoring

Jim

Depends on how elaborate you want to get. I have used a piece of
plexia glass attached to one side of the crack with fast drying epoxy. Then
carefully etched the width of the crack with a pocket knife on the plexia
glass. I also used the edge of the plexia glass to etched a line in the
concrete with the same knife. I then used a micrometer from my reloading
bench to check the changes. I found I could monitor movement as small as
the width of the etched line about 0.02 inches. I know there are similar
prepackaged devices out there if you can find them.
