Jim:

I would think it's the bare minimum needed to set wall forms...

Subject: Residential Footing projection P

Does anyone know the basis behind the 2" minimum
footing project on a residential footing as indicated
in IRC R403.1.1? Is it an engineered requirement, or
more of a practical requirement, such as providing a
minimum working surface for wall placement?

Thanks,
