RE: Boring Logs

Gail,

The only time just the boring logs are included on plans, in my experience, has been on bridge projects for DOT's.

My recommendation is to either include the entire geotechnical report in the project specifications, or provide a copy to the contractor as information supplemental to the bid package.  Our firm and some others even provides the report in PDF for ease of distribution.

If you have deep foundations, the drilled shaft and/or ACP and/or pile driving specialty contractors would love to have boring logs.

Just my thoughts.

Subject: Boring Logs

Is it typical to include boring logs on foundation plans?

If it is not typical,  under what circumstances would you do so?  Would it be a function of soil type? structure type?  foundation type?
