*Reinforcement Fabrication using welding machine

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]

My company is producing precast concrete structural members.

Recently new welding machine was introduced in my company.

in order to assemble steel cage with welding 0.25" wire to rebars.

I believe this technology is widely accepted in Europe.

However, some engineers and codes are very sensitive about the influence of welding on reinforcement.

I remember that I was surprised to read the definition of tack welding in AWS;

it is not temporary welding but solid permant welding in my opinion.

Here are my questions:

1. Is this 'primitive' robot technology popular in the USA?

2. How can you defend the influence of welding to main rebars?
