After checking the 'seaint' archives, guess I never received a reply to
the subject question.

Does anyone have any idea where there might be a good place to look?

Thank you for your help.

Trying to find 'prescriptive' standards for 1x4ish diagonal (sway) bracing on the underside of the joists for residential deck framing (eg 20x10 deck on a 20ft ledger at the bldg and on 8ft or so high posts at the outer side).
Any ideas?
Thank you.

akm,
I don't know of any prescriptive issues related to "1x4ish diagonal (sway) bracing". You may be refering to bridging in the joists which is traditionally required at 8'-0" on center and there are prescriptive light steel "X" bridging that you can install. I just don't understand what you mean by bracing for "Sway". Bridging will take care of the possible twisting of the joists.

Please be more specific - otherwise, check the IBC Residential Code or Chapter 23 of the 97 UBC or 2003 California Building Code if this is where you are located.
